2009 F'd Up Tourney: Mainstay Bracket

By: Luke Florence

Okay, so we are getting ready to roll for the 2009 Mainstay Tournament, thus marking the official beginning of the 2009 F'd Up Tournament. Here are some quick rules so you can follow along.

1) We have 128 Mainstays. Only 32 will advance to the main tournament. So, each team needs to win twice to guarantee themselves a spot.

2) After we have our 32 Mainstays, we will continue with the tournament. The farther you go, the higher your seeding will be in the Big Dance. And, seeding does matter in the Big Dance, unlike this Mainstay Tournament.

3) To determine who wins and who loses, Kevin and I will be rolling dice. Each team will roll a pair of dice ten times. Add up the total to determine the winner. However, we have instituted an AND ONE rule. For example, say Keith Cawley rolls double 5's. He will then get to roll one dice another time. If he rolls an ensuing 4, his turn is over (5+5+4). But, if he rolls ANOTHER 5, he continues to roll one dice until he stops rolling 5's. In theory, the turn could take forever (5+5+5+5+1).

4) If for some miraculous reason, the teams tie after their 10th roll, then we go to overtime. Overtime will consist of two rolls of the dice per team. This will continue until a tie is broken. If we have a Syracuse-G'Town encounter with 6 OT's, I doubt you will ever hear from any one of us again.

That's about it. We will discuss At-Large candidates and Automatic qualifiers after we finish this tournament.

The KOA will be live blogging this event with estimated roll times and all other important updates.

Giddy up.

Until next time, "read it, roll it, hole it."
